On February 15 the Auxiliary of the Pregnancy Help Center of the San Gabriel Valley held its 27th “Anniversary Luncheon” at the Mater Dolorosa Retreat Center in Sierra Madre, California. St. Gianna Physician’s Guild president, Thomas McKenna, was the keynote speaker.

Mr. McKenna shared the story of this heroic wife, mother and physician who was the last saint canonized by Blessed Pope John Paul II on May 16, 2004.

He told stories and showed a variety of actual photographs of the saint taken in life.

“Saint Gianna lived her entire life in the light of Faith and this is what I always strive to convey to the public,” McKenna said.

“Her life and example can serve as a model of sanctity for faithful today when sometimes the ability to practice heroic virtue seems almost impossible,” he continued.

The Pregnancy Help Center supports women who have financial or emotional obstacles to a happy pregnancy.

The Center gives all qualified clients free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds administered by a qualified sonographer.
